Heat sensors used to: detect insulation failures of houses, pinpoint fires sources (firefighting), detect fractures in concrete bridges (cracks will bet "wetter" and thus will be cooler), even perform face recognition (face blood vessels have a different pattern on each person that is as unique as fingerprints), even hot pots on a body may be linked wth diseases, so heat camera could spot cancer tumors from the slight heat increase they emit.
