For more examples of change in technology,
see the books or TV programs of James
    Burke; like “Connections”.

When I was a kid, for example, we didn’t have
computers. Or ball point pens, or silly putty,
or detergents, or cake mixes, or dome lights
    in cars.

Or LP records, or stereo, or TV, or the
    slinky, etc. ,ad. infinitum.

That’s actually an excellent example of proper helpdesk attitude: No matter how clueless the user was, the support guy never lost his temper or became arrogant and condescending. Remember, it’s the clueless users out there that pay our salary, so be GLAD they don’t know it all themselves.
