I need info about online dating services?

has anybody found a very good friend or even a true love using an online dating service? I’m trying to find out if they are worth it or not.
You need to be careful which sites you sign up for. Some are pretty sketchy. If you go with a pay site, stick with the big guys like match.com and eharmony.com. If you want to go with a free site I recommend http://www.FindOneTrue.com.
I have 2 stories about on-line dating – both e-Harmony.
My uncle met his wife that way, they were married 6 months after they started corresponding and only saw each other 2x in those 6 months. They were in their 60’s and had both been married before. A happier couple you could not hope to meet.
My girlfriend’s sister met a gentleman who pretended to be someone he was not; they never met (there was always some excuse) he nearly managed to get $2,000.00 from her and continues to harass her to this day – her heart was broken after he betrayed her.
You pays your money, you takes your chances – it will at the very least be HIGHLY entertaining.

Well I met and married my wife through internet dating. It was DEFINITELY TRUE LOVE! The only trouble is four years on and I am divorcing her. So as the other responder said-you pays your money-you take your chances. I think that POTENTIALLY it can be brilliant but the down side is that you communicate without really knowing who you are writing to. It can be somebody who you would not normally cross the street for or it could be a wonderful person. I am sure you will get some interesting answers smurfy.

actually i was thinking like you…until the day i signed up with http://i-want-u.tk and found the love of my life. well this is just me. my cousin did find his (now) wife on there too. not everyone gets this lucky. but hey…its worth a try, right?
