Posted by admin on Mar 4, 2010 in new technology |
GM delivers up breaking new technology by reversing air flow in a smaller displacement diesel – 4.5 gets 310 hp & 520 ft/lbs of torque – better fuel economy – lower emmissions – is quieter and costs less! Watch the video.

If GM would have …
If GM would have been able to continue on with this engine truck sales would have sky rocketed. Decent HP + decent MPG = sales. Would have probably been good in the Hummers too.
God …
God republicans and their oil hungry, money grubbing handlers will never let technology like this make it to the production line. What a shame…
Its so …
Its so stupid that they killed this engine. hybrids suck!!!
wouldnt sell where?
wouldnt sell where?
diesel engines in …
diesel engines in 1500s are a great idea. more torque, more hauling power in a small pickup is always good and if you can get better fuel economy with it was well there ya go. hell, chip it, stack it, go to town haha
eh if you do it …
eh if you do it right you can still get them to roar like the ford 6.4 wasn’t supposed to smoke same with the 09 cummins haha that was a joke lol

fords coming out next year with one for the f150 and chevy made one in the 90s

Not happeneing thanks to Obama he killed the 4.5l duramax
It wont happen, …
It wont happen, Ford, Dodge, and GM have talked about smaller diesels for the half-ton trucks for years.
The old school …
The old school diesels are dieing slowly and are being replaced by quiet motors i like to hear my truck roar !!!!!
They should have …
They should have this engine on escalade and yukon denali plus 450 HP. Also on Hummer H3s

i wish they would …
i wish they would come out with the motor it would put them even more over the edge of the competition
they will not be …
they will not be making the 4.5L Diesel because they needed to cut projects in order to save money. It was either the 4.5L Duramax or the Volt which they have already invested too much money in to scrap the car.
are they still …
are they still gonna make 6.6’s in addition to the 4.5L
Have you considered …
Have you considered getting a hybrid turbo set up to change spool up rate.
Also it probably wouldn’t hurt to run a programable boost controller to be able to set the ramp rate.
Take a look at the E-BOOST2 from turbosmart. One of the best boost controllers I know of. Just google it. They will ship to the US.
Not to be that guy, …
Not to be that guy, but if you look at the exploded diagram of the parts, you’ll see that the block itself has two small ports on either side of the vee where the turbo directly bolts to. There are Zero exhaust manifolds, unless you consider the exhaust routing within the block itself to be a “manifold”. But at any rate it will be amazing to see how much it improves turbo lag, something I fight with daily.
You do need exhaust …
You do need exhaust manifold’s, they are just a lot shorter, the plus is that you have one turbo not two which means less weight (not much), faster spool up of turbo, shorter intake length means faster response. You cant run an engine (as it was intended) without the right manifold lengths.
Manufacturing cost would drop buy that much if less casting was needed & only one turbo is needed.
well lets see a …
well lets see a cummins run a 14.0 1/4 mile off the showroom floor
